The 'rama' tradition in Veracruz
We begin the journey in Veracruz with the tradition of the rama; this custom is so popular that it has spread to places like Yucatán, Guerrero and Tabasco.
As its name suggests, the tradition consists of children decorating a branch with paper, ornaments and colorful lanterns; with it they go house to house singing Christmas carols and asking for money, sweets, fruit or gifts. The dates of this tradition coincide with those of the posadas, from December 16 to 24.
Oaxaca and the Night of the Radishes
Now we move to southeastern Mexico, to Oaxaca, where it is celebrated every December 23 in the Oaxaca zócalo. During this event, artisans display figures made from radishes, showing their artistic skill and traditions captured in this vegetable; the tradition dates back to colonial times, when merchants placed figures carved in radishes to attract customers.

Pastorela of Tepotzotlán in the State of Mexico
Continuing the tour, we head to Tepotzotlán in the State of Mexico, where the most emblematic pastorela is held; it takes place at the National Museum of the Viceroyalty, combining tradition and high theatrical production, attracting visitors from all over the country.
